[Book Review] How To See In The Spirit by Michael R. Van Vlymen

This book, How To See In The Spirit: A Practical Guide On Engaging The Spirit Realm, is exactly as what the title said.  Unlike The Veil by Blake E. Healy telling us what the spirit realm looks like, this one literally gives you steps on how to go about calming yourself down, brush away all the noise around us and listen to God’s voice.  It describes journaling, santification, prayer, exercise your senses and waiting on God.  A very thorough manual.  Having read all these books, I have decided it is not really paramount that I see in the spirit realm.  It is good to know what’s around us.  I am happy just to evangelize and lay hands on people and pray for them.

[Book Review] The Veil by Blake K. Healy

This book was recommended by Praying Medic and Bill and Beni Johnson at the Bethel Church, Redding.  I wanted to explore the spirit realm and how does one deal with demonic forces but this book focused on what Healy could see since he was a little kid, that everyone of us has an angel unless we are afflicted by a bad spirit when we are in agreement with the lies it spews.  Only a chapter or two is a bit more graphic but the rest of the book is extremely uplifting.  It is reassuring to know that prophesies given to us has to relate back to our relationship with God and relationship to his people or it is not from God.  In one experience at a conference, the author could feel the immense love that Jesus has for everyone of us that it could even burst him.  While I started off this book with the hope of learning how to see in the spiritual realm, at the end of the book, I don’t need to anymore.  All I care is that God loves us so intensely that nothing matters.  Demons are not that influential and not worth our time.  Just call out the name of Jesus and work on what is most important, “Love our neighbor.”  This is a must read book for those curious about the types of angels there are and what they do, but more, to understand how Jesus, by his sacrifice, has linked us back to our Heavenly Father already and you have access to him more so than you realize.  You’ll get a lot closer to God even more after reading this book.

[Book Review] The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven by Kevin and Alex Malarkey

I saw this book at the library and was hesitating if I need to read yet one more book on heavenly visits from people who were near death.  By now, having been baptized in the Holy Spirit, I already feel the closeness every second with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and I know heaven is real. But why not?  And?…It’s one of the best book of this the type of heavenly visit  I have read so far.

Kevin was driving his 6 year old son, Alex, in 2004 and got into an auto accident in which Kevin was thrown out of the car and Alex suffered massive injuries, including a detached spine from the neck.  No one expected him to live and the doctors and nurses didn’t think he would even pull through in the first 72 hours.  He was in a coma for two months but throughout that time, he visited heaven and God.  In between, angels were dispatched to heal him in his earthly body.

The book is not so much of what he saw in heaven because as the bible taught, there are many things that visitors as Paul and John were not allowed to disclose and he too had to abide with the instructions.  The book were pages and pages of miracles, Christians praying for Alex and everyone in the hospital, acts of kindness from everywhere outside of their circle.  The outpouring of love from strangers is tremendous and magnified the glory of God at work.

Often, the secular objection to our God runs along the line as such,” What kind of sadistic God he is who would strike you with sickness and then show his magnificence when you are weak and that you have to rely on him?”  Do not be mistaken.  God does not will his people harm.  God does not plant diseases in us.  Adam lost his dominion over earth ever since he gave in to sin and Satan took over.  Ever since then, our lives have been going down hill.  We shouldn’t have tampered with crops, mixed fields, cloned unnecessarily and sprayed with chemicals our food source and environment.  Alex’s life was literally brought back by God.  Enjoy this book and know His Healing Power.
